Revamped Anglesea playground ready to sail
COOGOORAH Park playground in Anglesea has been rebuilt and is ready for children to return.
The old playground has been completely revamped, with a large timber ship and pirate themes featured such as a treasure hunt and binoculars, as well as climbing ropes, rock climbing, slides, scramble nets and more.
Surf Coast Shire councillor Mike Bodsworth said the playground has been built to create an inclusive play space for all ages and abilities.
“Coogoorah Park holds a special place in Anglesea locals’ hearts, so community consultation was a critical part of the planning and design process,” he said.
“From this consultation, we learned that people really valued the nautical theme of the original playground, so we made sure this carried through in the new design.”
Cr Bodsworth said the playground had been built using natural materials that suit the surrounding landscape.
“The community also told us they wanted the playground to be made from predominantly natural materials and they wanted imaginative play to be a strong focus,” Cr Bodsworth said.
“The new playground has been built with all this at front of mind, and I know kids are going to absolutely love it. It’s a fun and welcoming space where adventures will be had, imaginations will run wild and more treasured memories will be made.”
The Surf Coast Shire council funded the Coogoorah Park playground redevelopment as part of its playground renewal program.
