Rick Springfield memoir to come to life at Potato Shed
A captivating pop-rock adaptation of Rick Springfield’s autobiography is slated to entertain audiences at the Potato Shed next month.
Late, Late at Night will play on March 3 and trace Springfield’s childhood in Australia and Britain, his early music career and his rollercoaster of success and challenges.
Written by award-winning Australian playwright, Kieran Carroll and starring rising Sydney performer, Jackson Carroll (no relation), the show features over 20 fantastic Springfield gems.
From his time in band Zoot to the present day, the show includes many of Springfield’s 17 top 40 American hits from the 1980s and plenty more.
Late, Late at Night also celebrates Springfield’s resilience and triumph of his artistic resurgence in the 21st century.
Playwright Kieran Caroll said the entertaining and insightful show was one not to miss.
“Late, Late at Night is an epic journey of a Melbourne suburban boy whose journey to fame and fortune came with large personal costs.
Theatre People’s Nick Pilgrim also threw his support behind the pop-rock stage adaptation.
“The playwright drives its powerful narrative with a solid handful of Springfield’s pop hits and soulful ballads as well.”
