Riders of the 50-Year Storm revealed

The party wave at the opening ceremony for the 2017 50-Year Storm Invitational.

THE votes are in for the 50-Year Storm Invitational, with judges selecting 30 surfers to take part in the contest of 100 per cent pure adrenaline in honour of Shaun Brooks.

More than 650 votes were recorded this year, up from 150 last year.

The invitees include surfers from across Victoria as well as interstate. In alphabetical order, they are:

The waiting period for this year’s event begins on June 2 and closes on August 31, with the event only to run if the swell is at least 12 foot and conditions are perfect.

Last year, the event raised $10,000, which was donated to charities One in Five and Headspace.

The opening ceremony for the 2018 50-Year-Storm Invitational will be held at Bells Beach on Saturday June 2 from 1pm. The community is invited for a Wathaurong welcome, invitee induction, lunch and a party wave.
