Rip Curl rally for top cause
MORE than $50,000 has been raised for a local family in need at Rip Curl’s annual Community Cup Golf Day.
The local fundraiser was attended by more than 150 people at the RACV Torquay Resort on Friday last week.

This year’s event was dedicated to supporting the King family – Sally, David, Tarli and little legend 8-year-old Zayli.
This past Easter, the Torquay family had their world turned upside down when Zayli was diagnosed with Ewing’s sarcoma – a rare and aggressive bone cancer.

She is now facing an incredibly tough battle which includes multiple surgeries, radiation and chemotherapy at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne.
All proceeds from the day went towards easing financial burden, so the family can focus on Zayli and the challenges they are facing

Attendees got right into the giving spirit by taking part in 18 holes of golf, lunch and drinks, on-course fundraising activations, a DJ party hole, a special dinner and plenty of silent auctions and raffle prizes.
Event organiser and Rip Curl global product manager of wetsuits Adam Brissenden said the fundraising efforts on the day were incredible.

“We were blown away by the level of support we received this year at our ninth annual Rip Curl Community Cup Golf Day. Each year we rally behind a local family doing it tough, and this year was no exception.”
The support from local people, brands and businesses was overwhelming, from those who’ve been with us since day one to the many new faces who came on board.
“We were absolutely stoked to have over 130 people out on the course and to raise more than $50,000.”
