TORQUAY surf brand Rip Curl are delighted to be partnering with global non-profit organisation SurfAid to raise vital funds for families living in remote surf communities this September.

Rip Curl will be the primary partner for the third annual SurfAid Make A Wave challenge, a peer-to-peer fundraising initiative encouraging people to raise money and to surf for 30 days straight throughout September.

All donations during the campaign will directly support SurfAid in their mission to provide healthcare, clean water and sanitation and nutrition and food security to people connected to through surfing.

In support of the partnership, many Rip Curl athletes will be joining the Make a Wave campaign as ambassadors to help support and promote the program.

The ambassador lineup includes Owen Wright, Dylan Moffat, Brisa Hennessy and Molly Picklum, who all say they share SurfAid’s vision of using surfing as a force for positive change.

Rip Curl head of environmental, social and governance Shasta O’Loughlin said she personally was thrilled Rip Curl is putting their hand up to help those in need.

“As a recent participant in the Make A Wave challenge, I am so stoked that Rip Curl has joined SurfAid as the primary partner this year.

“Creating positive social and environmental impact in remote surfing communities aligns so closely with what we do as a B Corp and the Ultimate Surfing Company.

“We’ll be encouraging family, friends, work colleagues and crew in our community to join the SurfAid cause and surf every day in September.”

Surf Aid chief executive officer Doug Lees said they are honoured to welcome Rip Curl on board for the upcoming campaign.

“Rip Curl understands the transformative power of surfing and recognises the responsibility to give back to the communities that enrich the lives of surfers and travelers alike.

“Their commitment and investment in SurfAid will empower us to reach even more of our neighbours in remote surf communities.”
