Road closures to slow travel
DRIVERS across the City of Greater Geelong are being urged to allow for extra travel time as three ongoing roadworks will delay travel times across the region.
The closure of the Surf Coast Highway at Baanip Boulevard in Grovedale will come into effect tomorrow (Friday, February 9) from 9.30am and will be in place until 6am on March 7.
The Victorian government stated up to 20 to 30 extra minutes should be allowed for travellers who would usually be passing through Baanip Boulevard on the Surf Coast Highway.
The second stage of roadworks next to Waurn Ponds Station on Sugargum Drive is also under way and will be in effect until February 23, affecting local traffic and public transport users.
The roadwork upgrades to Sugargum Drive are being enforced between Cottonwood Way and Rene Street.
Traffic management will be in place during working hours (7am-4pm).
Whites Road at the intersection of Surf Coast Highway will also be closed. The closure has been in effect since January 15 and will remain closed until March 28 according to the City of Greater Geelong.
