Rock 2 Ramp inches closer
MORE than 1,000 swimmers will enter the water at Anglesea next weekend for the 29th edition of the Rock2Ramp Ocean Swim.
The December 28 event promises to be a celebration of fitness, community spirit and open water talent, and raises funds for the Anglesea SLSC.
The Rock2Ramp will start at “Soapy’s” rock near Point Roadknight and feature four course lengths for people of all abilities.
Competitors can complete the 200m or 300m Kids Dash, the 600m, the 1.2km course or the 2.5km marathon.
Anglesea Surf Lifesaving Club president David Marsh said excitement was high for the return of the popular event.
“We are thrilled to bring the Burson Rock2Ramp Ocean Swim back for its 29th year.
“Last year’s event was a huge success, with over 1,000 swimmers taking part, and we’re excited to see even more people join us this year.
“Whether you’re a competitive swimmer, someone who has never done an ocean swim, or a primary school aged kid, this event offers something for everyone.”
Mr Marsh said the introduction of the new 1.2km A-Z Plumbing Open Dash for Cash category would be a marquee irace on the program.
“There’s $1,000 in prize money on the line for male and female placegetters, so we’re sure this is going to be a popular category for swimmers.”
In addition to the swims, there will be a massage tent from Move Beyond, food stalls and plenty of other activities.
