Rotary Club of Torquay to celebrate its 30th

May 3, 2018 BY

THE Rotary Club of Torquay will celebrate 30 years of community service at a function in Bellbrae this weekend.

The club has been highly active in Torquay and surrounds with a number of long-running and highly successful initiatives over its three decades of existence, including the Torquay Rotary Motor Show – which marked its 10th year in 2017 – the Torquay Book Fair, the regular sausage sizzle at the Cowrie Market, and volunteering at events such as the Anzac Day dawn service at Point Danger.

More recent activities include a sold-out fundraising dinner with Tour de France winner Cadel Evans last year, and last month’s planting of trees in Deep Creek Reserve – part of a global Rotary challenge for every one of Rotary’s 1.2 million members to plant at least one tree by Earth Day.

As well as club members and partners, past members and partners have been invited to Saturday’s event, as well as local council and government representatives.

The celebration will feature music by The Shy Guys.

The Rotary Club of Torquay’s 30th birthday will be held at Bellbrae Estate, 520 Great Ocean Road, Bellbrae, on Saturday, May 5 from 6.30-9pm.

Tickets are $25 per person and include canapes. Drinks are at bar prices.

For more information on the event, phone Maggie Isom on 0412 713 102 or John McDonald on 0405 146 443.
