DOMESTIC violence campaigner Rosie Batty, high-profile psychologist and author Dr Michael Carr-Gregg, and international End Polio ambassador Ramesh Ferris are among the keynote speakers locked in for this year’s Rotary 9780 District Conference.

The event, to be hosted by district governor Lesley Shedden and the Rotary Club of Torquay, will take place between March 21 and 23 across Barwon Heads’ 13th Beach Golf Links and The Sands Resort in Torquay.

Eager for the broader community to experience the insights of each keynote speaker and to share in the powerful stories they have to tell, the Rotary Club will live stream its program of events across the weekend and is inviting the community to attend online.

Ms Shedden said it was a chance for the community of the Geelong region to hear from speakers who they might not otherwise have the opportunity to experience, with those who do take up the offering able to select which parts of the program they’d like to attend.

“It’s an opportunity that doesn’t come along all that often.

“There’s a lot of anyone who’s interested, but if someone really just wanted to hear Michael Carr-Gregg, they can come in and hear him.”

Schools interested in accessing the livestream will be able to do so at no cost.

Schools are encouraged to reach out to register their interest with conference committee chair Michael Reed via email at [email protected]

As part of the conference program, the Rotary Club will gather with conference attendees at Point Danger on March 21 at 7.30am for a 1km walk to call for an end to domestic and family violence, and to raise awareness about the work Rotary has been doing over the past 35 years to help eradicate polio in areas like Afghanistan and Pakistan where the disease remains endemic.

Ms Shedden said everyone was welcome to join the walk and encouraged those interested to just turn up.

Tickets are still available for those interested in attending the conference in person. To book or get access to the event’s full program and livestream, head to rotary9780conference.com.au
