ROAD closures are expected to be in place for four weeks as crews complete works at the intersection of Fisher Street and Centreside Drive in Torquay.

The road reconstruction works, which began on Monday, will replace damaged road pavement to make the surface smoother and safer for all road users.

Detours are in place while the intersection is closed to traffic and people using the route should allow for extra travel time.

Northbound traffic on Fischer Street will be redirected at Inshore Drive roundabout towards Marine Drive via Cook Avenue, and then onto Merrijig Drive via Rosser Boulevard.

Southbound traffic on Fischer Street will be redirected at Merrijig Drive to Quay Boulevard and then onto Inshore Drive via Flinders Lane.

Residents within the road closures will still be able to access their properties during the works, while pedestrian access around the access will be maintained at all times.
