July 13, 2023 BY

Anglesea Main Beach was lined with runners on Sunday morning as 900 participants took on the Anglesea leg of the Trail Running Series.

RAIN, wind, and mud awaited the 900 participants who took part in Sunday’s Anglesea leg of the Trail Running Series.

Runners braved the elements to complete four running distances: the 29km long course, the 16km course, the 7.5km course and the Friendly 4km race.

Event director John Jacoby said everyone welcomed the adventurous elements, fully embracing the trial running experience.

“We love seeing people get to experience these coastal trails that we are lucky enough to call home.

“And coupled with the events’ welcoming atmosphere with food, coffee and family activities on offer – it was a fantastic day.”

The Series offered a mix of coastal trails, pushing runners to weave between bush tracks and traverse sandy beaches.

Runners also had to the added obstacle of muddy puddles and the river mouth crossing to reach the finish line.

New Zealand trail-runner Simon Angus pulled out the quickest time in the headline 29km course, crossing the finish line 11 seconds under two hours (1:59:49).

Anouk Seccull smashed the female time for the 7km race in 36 minutes and 16 seconds.

Mr Jacoby said the highlight of the day was the Friendly-4km event, which provided a fun and supportive course for all ages and abilities.
