WINCHELSEA and district farmers and local residents are encouraged to attend a free event offering an insight into life beyond the farm.
The Healthy, Wealthy and Wise Rural Roadshow will be held on July 18 at Winchelsea Shire Hall.
The event is aimed at farmers who are considering what retirement might look like and how they can stay connected to their communities.
It will be headlined by a presentation titled “Life Beyond the Farm and Joys of Retirement” and include information stalls, health checks, rural financial counsellors, scam awareness and digital banking.
Cr Adrian Schonfelder encouraged interested people to drop in at any time.
“We want roadshow attendees to leave feeling more confident in how they can stay healthy, financially secure, and connected,” he said.
“Most importantly, it’s a great chance to simply sit and have a cuppa with other locals facing the same challenges in these hard times as the drought continues.”
Several organisations and groups have teamed up to deliver the event including the Winchelsea and District Community Bank, Hesse Rural Health, Council on the Aged Victoria, Dementia Australia, Lifeline, Ambulance Victoria, Winchelsea Probus Club, Winchelsea Community House, Winchelsea Men’s Shed, and Winchelsea Community Bank Village.
The event will also feature showbags and door prizes, and catering by Feed Me Surf Coast.
“I’m pleased that members of Council’s Positive Ageing Advisory Committee are on the planning committee for this event, along with valued community members from Winchelsea and surrounds,” Cr Schonfelder said.
“Thank you to everyone involved in organising.”
