Safety improvements coming for Cliff Street in Torquay
LOCAL traders and community members who use the Cliff Street car park are advised to seek alternative car parking while safety improvements are carried out at the site.
From November 13, the Surf Coast Shire Council is replacing five light poles in the two-hour CBD car park to improve amenity and safety.
Works will proceed in two different stages.
The first stage will take about two weeks and close half of the car park at a time.
It will consist of the existing poles being removed and footings being prepared for new poles.
The second stage, which will take place between December 13 and 15 will involve the installation of the new light poles.
The whole car park is expected to be closed for one day whole day between 6am and 3pm for this stage of construction.
While the works are taking place, impacted traders and car park users are encouraged to use parks along Zeally Bay Road beside Taylors Park and in nearby Walker Street.
