JOE Camilleri and the Black Sorrows are ready to rock The Sands Torquay once more after an illness cut the band’s initial show short.

The Sands management announced last week that a new show is rescheduled for August 6, after Camilleri suddenly fell ill and left the stage 10 minutes into the July 16 show.

“Joe got through about two songs and then had to pull up as he started to feel very unwell,” director of facilities Damian Holman said.

“Luckily, we had a doctor on site who advised Joe to go and get checked at hospital for anything serious.

“We were glad to see Joe the morning after the event, he was feeling healthy again and said he couldn’t wait to give the fans at The Sands another great show.

“He’s never not finished a gig in his whole career, so he is pretty excited to come back and repay the faith to all the fans that turned out to see him and the band.”

Camilleri suddenly fell ill during his third song of his set on July 16.

Support acts James Black and Taylor Sheridan were said to have put on an amazing show for the visitors who came to the gig in Camilleri’s absence.

For his August 6 show, Camilleri will perform hits both old and new, this time being joined on staged and supported by The Voice Australia finalist Michael Stangel.

“It’s great to have Michael on board to support Joe for what will be another great concert,” Mr Holman said.

“Tickets were strong for the first show, and we look forward to selling even more with the rescheduled date. Joe is pumped to come back and finish what he started and we can’t wait, so everyone get in fast and buy your tickets.”
