Santa is returning to Torquay and Jan Juc this Christmas Eve
SANTA is out of lockdown and ready to give some Christmas cheer as he joins the Torquay Fire Brigade for the annual Santa run.
Travelling by fire truck instead of sleigh, Santa will be visiting Torquay and Jan Juc this Christmas Eve from 2pm- 4pm.
“We are happy to show little kiddies that Santa has been allowed out of lockdown and is back in our community,” coordinator Louise Turner said.
This year’s run will be a little different to previous years with a reduced number of stops to prevent overcrowding and to accommodate for social distancing in more open spaces.
“We will have a car with Fire Brigade members turn up just before Santa to try and re-enforce COVID-19 safety measures,” she said.
Santa and his helpers will be complying with further safety procedures with hand sanitiser and latex gloves being changed between each stop.
The Torquay Fire Brigade are asking the community to be extra patient this year to ensure everyone is kept safe.
“We would like to pass on to the community of Torquay and Jan Juc to show care and respect to their fellow people.
“Once each person has met Santa, please step aside for others to greet him,” she said.
Ms Turner previously doubted the run would be able to go ahead but is thankful to all who have made it possible for everyone to enjoy.
“We are very fortunate that the CFA has allowed this to take place,” she said.
