Santa postie getting Christmas into gear
AN ANGLESEA local has fired up his postman bike for an eleventh straight year to help deliver children’s Christmas wishes to Santa Claus just in time for Monday’s big occassion.
Cameron McFarlane has been racing to local kindergartens and schools this month in an effort to spread Christmas cheer in the community.
After delivering children’s wishes to Santa in the North Pole, the retired local postman has been returning the following week with special person letters for each student from the man in the red suit.
Mr McFarlane said doing his job for Santa and the elves was “the best fun you could ever have.”
“It’s all about the community fun and giving a bit of excitement at what is a great time of year,” he said.
“There’s enough gloom and doom all year, so we just want to encapsulate the magic that Christmas brings.
“The prep students and kinder kids have been so excited to see me and to know their letters are heading to the North Pole.
“The schools then show an image the following day of me with Santa with all of their special wish lists.
“It’s just awesome, I absolutely love it.”
Mr McFarlane said the “priceless” reaction of the children is what brings him back every year.
“When I deliver the letters from Santa to the school, I’ve got the ice all over the bike from the North Pole and their faces just glow up. They know it’s all real!
“They start shaking with excitement. It’s just so good.
“Why wouldn’t you want to see that. It’s honestly the most fun thing in the world.”
