SURFCOAST Basketball Association members have been encouraged to complete the Surf Coast Shire’s “Places and Faces” survey as part of the association’s push for more basketball courts.

The SBA continues to grow at significant speed, with the club struggling to allocate courts and spaces for each of their senior and junior teams.

To support its efforts, the club sent an email to members urging them to have their say in the survey to ensure the shire notice the need for more courts.

“Surf Coast Shire is currently running its ‘Places and Spaces’ survey – and this is our chance to be heard,” the SBA email stated.

The email outlined the necessity for more courts to deliver quality experiences, expand junior and community programs, support player and official pathways, and give SBA youngsters greater opportunities to enjoy the game they love.

“The more voices they hear from our basketball community, the stronger our case becomes,” the email stated.

The shire’s Social Infrastructure Planning Framework is presently under development. The survey will allow the shire to understand which community spaces are valued most.

The policy will be developed from October to November this year, with a council meeting scheduled for December.
