SBA unveils major sponsor for 2024
SURFCOAST Basketball Association (SBA) has announced Nelson Financial as its major sponsor for 2024 with both organisations looking forward to local basketball’s year ahead.
SBA president Leon Sayers said the association was extremely pleased to have Paul Nelson and wife Nicole Nelson aboard as major sponsors.
“We’re excited as an association and as a committee to welcome Nelson Financial as a major sponsor for this year,” Mr Sayers said.
“I’ve personally known Paul and Nicole for quite a while now and last year their business served as a player sponsor, so the SBA is quite familiar with the business already.
“We see a lot of alignment between our two organisations and when they approached us looking to become more involved, we saw that as a perfect opportunity to make them our major sponsor.
“It’s a business that continually looks to give back to the community, so it’s only fitting moving forward we name our representative teams the Nelson Financial Surf Coast Chargers.”
With more than 40 years of history on the Surf Coast between them, Paul and Nicole sponsor seven clubs on the Surf Coast through their business already, including the Torquay Football Club and Jan Juc Cricket Club.
The announcement marks the first time Nelson Financial will become a major sponsor of one of the local clubs.
“To be able to give back to the local community and the sport of basketball, which our kids have played, is an exciting next step for us,” Mr Nelson said.
“It goes all the way through the club, there are so many families that form the association, it’s huge, and that was a major factor in us becoming a major sponsor.
“Hopefully the SBA can become the best version of itself it can be in the future, and we hope to be able to play a role in that development and the development of its players.”
