Matt Worland and Geelong Cats premiership player Cam Mooney will host SEN Geelong's new weekday drive program The Run Home, bringing a dedicated local sports show to the region.

A NEW era of local sport radio has hit the Geelong airwaves, with SEN expanding its footprint through the launch of a dedicated weekday drive program.

Hosted by sports broadcaster Matt Worland and former Geelong Cats premiership player Cam Mooney, The Run Home will air from 3-5pm on Mondays and Fridays via the SEN Geelong app.

It marks the first time the network has created content exclusively for a Geelong audience, with the show to elevate the local stories, sports and events often overlooked by other programs.

The pair are already well-known to listeners through their statewide Saturday morning program The Warm Up, which is now entering its fourth year.

Their latest venture gives them a platform built purely for the region, and the time to unpack the stories that matter locally.

But listeners can still expect to hear plenty of Worlo and Moon’s trademark banter. Their friendly sparring has become a hallmark of their Saturday program and will carry into the drive slot.

Mooney said the move had been a long time coming.

“Geelong deserves its own dedicated drive show, and to finally bring consistent local content to SEN Geelong is really exciting.”

“Worlo and I have worked together for four years on The Warm Up, and we’re looking forward to bringing that into the weekday timeslot.

“It’s a great way to preview the footy each week and have some fun with the biggest talking points from the weekend.”

The program will work closely with organisations such as AFL Barwon, the Geelong Racing Club and major sporting codes operating in the region, while also keeping a strong focus on the Geelong Cats.

That focus comes with built-in fireworks.

Mooney, a former Cats champion, remains fiercely loyal to the blue and white. Worland, by his own admission, does not.

If the Cats lose this season, Moons will feel it. If they win, Worlo will hear about it.

“We’ve got a different take on sport,” Worland said. “We’re certainly not going to be very serious.

“We’re going to be having fun, trying to involve the audience and just bringing our own take on the world of sport.”

The Run Home is backed by naming rights partner Harvey Norman Corio, Geelong and Waurn Ponds.

Listeners can stream the show live via the SEN Geelong app.
