IN SUPPORT of older Victorians, Seniors Card holders will receive eight days of free public transport from this Sunday, October 6 until October 13.

The Victorian government, in partnership with Public Transport Victoria, has introduced the initiative to help cardholders explore the Victorian Seniors Festival events.

The free travel applies to all forms of public transport including trams, trains, buses and coach services in metro, regional and rural areas.

Travellers will need to carry their Seniors Card and touch on and off with their myki as usual, however their cards will not be charged.

The Victorian government, local councils, community and cultural organisations will celebrate older Victorians throughout the month, including with the On Ya Bike 2024 Seniors Festival Series in Drysdale.

The On Ya Bike Series will take cyclists along the state’s tracks and trails.

Minister for Ageing Ingrid Stitt and Minister for Public and Active Transport Gabrielle Williams visited Flinders Street Station on Tuesday this week to encourage seniors to take advantage of the free travel.

“These eight days of free travel are all about celebrating our older Victorians and helping them to fully embrace the fantastic Seniors Festival events across the state,” Ms Stitt said.

“Throughout the festival, seniors get free rides on public transport across the state – exploring new places and participating in engaging events during these eight days of free

public travel.”

“This is the perfect chance for seniors to see new parts of our state, revisit favourite spots, and enjoy everything Victoria has on offer,” Ms Williams added.
