Shire hall window to be fixed in June

May 29, 2019 BY

THE Surf Coast Shire says it hopes repairs to a vandalised stained glass window at Winchelsea’s former shire hall will be complete early in June.

Council has engaged a glazier for the specialist task of producing and installing an identical design to the glass broken earlier this month.

“We are seeking to have the repair completed as soon as possible. Getting it done properly is our number one priority,” the shire’s general manager of culture and community Chris Pike said.

“Though the circular centre panel of glass was smashed, other panels were compromised as well so the entire window needs replacing.

“We hope to have the work completed during the first week of June.”

The window on the Hesse Street side of the building was reported as broken on May 5. A rock was found inside the building.
