THE Surf Coast Shire hosting a selection of fun and inclusive events for people of all ages this Children’s Week.

Children’s Week, which runs from October 21 to 29, is a national celebration which recognises the talents, skills, achievements and rights of children.

On Tuesday, October 24, residents are invited to head to the Lorne Community House for a small talk playgroup, sensory play, song and rhyme time and an education session from a local Maternal and Child Health clinic.

The following day (October 25), creative craft, sensory experiences and a puppet show will be held at the Yellow Gum Performance Space at Bob Pettit Reserve in Jan Juc.

Celebrations will be rounded out with a nature play session, health snack activities, sensory experiences and creative craft in Winchelsea next to the HMK Kindergarten on Thursday, October 26.

Councillor Kate Gazzard said Children’s Week was about celebrating the joy which children bring.

“It’s such a special time in life for children themselves as well as for parents, carers, grandparents and the whole village it takes to raise kids.

“Play is such an important part of childhood, so these events are all about encouraging kids to have some fun as well as helping parents to connect with one another.”

Residents of all ages are welcome to attend the sessions and are advised to bring their own water bottle, hat and sunscreen.
