THE Surf Coast Shire council is hosting its next meeting at Winchelsea’s Eastern Reserve Community Centre later this month.

The August 26 meeting will start at 6pm, but everyone is invited to come along from 5.30pm for a cuppa and a chat with councillors beforehand.

“We’re so pleased to be holding our council meeting in Winchelsea this month,” Winchelsea Ward councillor Adrian Schonfelder said.

“It’s important for us to be present in our communities and to make local government accessible to everyone across the shire,” Cr Adrian Schonfelder, who represents the Winchelsea Ward, said.

“This is a great opportunity for Winchelsea locals to chat with their councillors, listen to the debate and watch how decisions are made.”

“Everyone is invited to come along, hear what’s happening locally, and see the democratic process in action.”

The council meeting will also be livestreamed so people can choose to watch it live at home (with live captions) or watch the recording later.

The shire’s council meetings are generally held on a monthly basis at the Council Chambers in Torquay, but meetings are also held in the Winchelsea and Otway Range Wards throughout the year

The shire says it will publish the agenda for the August 26 meeting online on the evening of August 21.
