THE Surf Coast Shire’s latest round of grants is now open, offering organisations and community groups opportunities to turn their ideas into action.
This September, grants are available across four major categories: community initiative, natural environment, minor capital works, and health and wellbeing.
Community-led projects excelling in any one of these four areas will be carefully considered by the shire for grants between $5,000 and $15,000.
Last year’s grant funding allocation enabled the Aireys Inlet Community Garden to build a new greenhouse, the Torquay Football Club to construct a new shed, Torquay Coast Action Group to undertake significant weed removal works, and the Otway Ranges Choir to secure a choir master.
Cr Rebecca Bourke encouraged organisations and groups in need of funding to check the grant criteria and make a submission.
“Grant allocations such as these can provide impetus for such valuable outcomes for our community,” she said. “We appreciate that many organisations tread fine lines with their operating budgets and find it challenging to bring together extra funds for projects or works that might be really important to them and the wider community.”
