Shire’s Small Grants Program opens

March 12, 2020 BY

Cr Martin Duke presents U3A SurfCoast's Sue Crowe with one of the grants from the previous round.

THE Surf Coast Shire Council is accepting applications for the next round of its Small Grants Program.

Cr Martin Duke said he was pleased with the diversity of the programs the council has supported through the program in recent times.

“We have two funding rounds a year and we always see a wonderfully diverse mix of projects, which benefit our community in different ways.

“Some of the projects to receive funding in the September round included cultural immersion excursions with Wadawurrung Traditional Owners, an art mural, the purchase of audio visual equipment for a range of musical and oral history projects and equipment for the newly formed Surf Coast Volleyball Association.”

The grants are open to community groups and incorporated not-for-profits.

There are four different categories: community initiatives; environment; culture and arts; and recreation and leisure.

Cr Duke said the grants played an important role in helping community groups and clubs thrive.

“We know funding project ideas isn’t always easy, so these grants are designed to help our local clubs and groups get some really worthy projects up and running.”

Applications close on March 31.
