Mother Nature was captured through the eyes of novice and experienced artists as part of the inaugural Blank Canvas Art Show. Crowds arrived at Ocean Grove’s Driftwood Café on June 14 to enjoy art and live music from The Disco Rocker Trio, with all proceeds donated to the Greens via organiser and environmentalist John Bowman. The event distributed 82 small canvases to entrants whose works were sold during a silent auction that ran throughout the evening and Mr Bowman said the evening was a great success. “All 82 canvases sold raising $2,000, The Blank Canvas Award went to the painting with the highest bid of $100, a water colour of two humpback whales by Sam from the Barwon Heads coffee cart,” he said. “We received beautiful entries from the local arts community, including students from the art schools in the industrial estate. We are looking forward to next year’s event.”
