Showing off the best of Geelong

AN INDUSTRY-led roadshow rolled into Melbourne on Tuesday to show off Geelong’s combination of entrepreneurism, connectedness, affordability and beachside lifestyle.

The Transforming Geelong Roadshow aimed to shine a spotlight on the business and lifestyle opportunities in Geelong, which is expected to grow to 300,000 people by 2031 and 500,000 by 2050.

The roadshow touted the city as a corporate and government headquarter hub; a centre of knowledge, innovation and research; a hub for allied and health services; a transport and logistics hub and as a lifestyle and tourism destination.

“We are asking people to look at Geelong through new eyes and see the unique and attractive package it presents as a business and lifestyle choice.

“It has a regional heartbeat, yet is Victoria’s second-largest city.

“It offers enviable coastal living, yet is less than 60 minutes from the Melbourne CBD. Geelong is exciting, affordable, and welcoming.”

The roadshow was launched by Premier Daniel Andrews and also featured Corangamite federal member Sarah Henderson and City of Greater Geelong deputy mayor Bruce Harwood.

“Geelong is a great city and we certainly believe that its best days lie ahead of it,” Mr Andrews said.

“Over the last 100 years, Geelong has been at the centre of Victoria’s growth and I am committed to seeing it continue to be at the heart of our state for the next 100 years.”

Cr Harwood said Geelong’s transformation had been spectacular.

“Increasingly, Geelong is being recognised for change, growth and prosperity.
