South Barwon clubs encouraged to apply for funding
GRASSROOTS sporting clubs across South Barwon can now share in funding through the Andrews Labor Government’s 2019/20 Sporting Club Grants Program.
The announcement was made last Wednesday, with member for South Barwon Darren Cheeseman encouraging eligible groups to apply.
The Sporting Club Grants Program provides up to:
• $5,000 for training for coaches, officials and volunteers
• $5,000 to improve operational effectiveness
• $2,000 to address barriers that Indigenous athletes face in terms of participation in sport and active recreation
• $1,000 for new uniforms and equipment.
“Local sports clubs are the heart and soul of Geelong and the Surf Coast – they bring people together and create a healthy, happy and united community,” Mr Cheeseman said.
“The Sporting Club Grants Program is giving South Barwon clubs the support they need to grow their ranks and help more people play the sports they love.”
Since 2014, the state government has delivered more than 3,500 Sporting Club Grants – totalling in excess of $4.9 million.
