ABOUT 140 people from the Torquay Tigers’ football and netball sides attended the club’s annual mid-season ball on Saturday, July 10.

The Tigers have hosted the night at Spring Creek Reserve since 2019 and Tigers president Jenny Wood said it was nice to see the rooms done up nicely with lights and furniture compared to what it usually looked like during the week.

In previous years the club has held the event at different locations, with the exception of scrapping the event altogether last year.

Ms Wood said the night was relaxed and everyone had a good time, as it was probably the first time in a long time the whole club has been allowed to properly socialise.

“Both of the football and the netball teams have been doing fairly well, so the event was well attended by both sides and their partners too,” she said.

“The teams are high-spirited at the moment, but the guys took it pretty easy because they still have a long way to go in the season.”

The Tigers’ senior footy side are head and shoulders above the pack at the top of the BFL ladder, undefeated after 11 rounds.

Torquay’s A grade netball team are second in their competition with nine wins and two losses.
