THE Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority (GORCAPA) is offering a unique opportunity to operate tours at the historic Split Point Lighthouse in Aireys Inlet.

The authority, which took over management of Crown land in the Split Point Lighthouse precinct from the Surf Coast Shire on May 1, is seeking tour operators through an Expression of Interest (EOI) process.

Constructed in 1891, the lighthouse features its original staircase and offers 360-degree views of the coast, allowing visitors to spot whales, dolphins, and other marine life.

The lighthouse is also famous for its appearance in the children’s television series Round The Twist, as well as in various films and shows like MasterChef Australia.

GORCAPA director of community and corporate affairs Andy Mathers said the initiative aims to promote sustainable tourism and support local employment.

“The authority is committed to sustainable tourism ventures, which support local employment and enhance the experience of all visitors.

“The EOI process will help us secure a high-quality offering for one of the Great Ocean Road’s landmark sites.

“All revenue we raise through our commercial endeavours is reinvested back into the Great Ocean Road coast and parks, to ensure the region can be enjoyed for generations to come.”

Applications close on August 2 at 5pm.
