MORE than 200 members of the Surf Coast community turned out at St Therese Primary School last Thursday evening to celebrate its popular specialists subject curriculum.

The school’s inaugural Specialist Spectacular showcased student work in the subjects of Art, Physical Education, STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics), Music and Dance.

Pupils presented some of their recent artworks to their parents and families, led groups through different sporting games and performed a series of songs and dance.

St Therese School specialist school leader Jan Fagan said the Specialist Spectacular was a massive success.

The school’s dance students put on a fantastic performance on the night.

“It was a fantastic showcase of all our specialist subjects.

“All the students look forward to the days where they have these unique subjects, which is ultimately really important for them.

“A day like this builds up their confidence and shows off their amazing skills to their school cohort and their families.

“Some of the children might not think they are the greatest readers, but they might love sport or dancing, so it gives them a great opportunity to showcase their talents. “An event like this has been a long time coming, and we were rapt with the outcome.”
