Star art raises lifesaving funds
PAULINE Shinkfield is thankful to everyone who contributed to the Star of the Sea Retirement Village Art Exhibition and Craft display from October to November this year.
“I’m glad it’s all done and dusted as the saying goes but on behalf of the organisers I wish to thank all who donated to the raffle and purchased articles making this venture such a success,” Pauline said.
“We had organised to donate 10 per cent of all the profits to the Torquay Surf Lifesaving Club through painting sales.
“We are excited to announce we raised $1,394 for the Torquay Surf Lifesaving Club and great achievement for our first event.”
One of the paintings had already sold before the exhibition officially opened.
Many residents praised the new initiative and enjoyed wandering the displays of fellow residents.
“It was absolutely wonderful seeing everyone get involved,” Pauline said.
“There is a suggestion that it should be run again next year but maybe not for four weeks.
“The majority of the money raised was through the raffle and we would like to congratulate the following winners – 1st Prize, Mrs Elaine Monks, 2nd Prize Mr Ron Driscoll and 3rd Prize Mr Ian Looney.
“All the artists involved are with Geelong Art Society or Anglesea Art group and exhibit at Rotary Shows.”
