Storm eye efficiency amid victories
BELLARINE Storm women’s team turned the tables against Pakenham last weekend after losing to the second-placed Warriors earlier this Big V championship season.
After losing 81-79 to Pakenham in May, the Storm took the chocolates 76-63 on Sunday in Round 10.
Chantelle Hall and Bridgette Rettstatt were back after missing the previous encounter.
The Storm outscored Pakenham 40-33 in the second half as captain Courtney Strait led the scoring with 20 points and Jaimee Crombie had 14 for the game.
“Defensively, we did a really good job just disrupting some of their main actions and making them take some shots they may not have necessarily wanted,” coach Tim Sanderson said.
It came after the Storm defeated a young Warrnambool outfit 92-50 on Saturday, with six players scoring in the double digits.
Bellarine, who are top of the table with 12 wins and two losses, host eighth-placed Warrandyte tomorrow (Saturday, June 21) at 7.30pm.
It’s just making sure we keep our rhythm right, like making sure we keep working on our screening angles,” Sanderson said of the focus.
“We’ve been doing a little bit on the offensive end with ball movement.
“We have been trying to tweak a few things there to see if we can find a bit more efficiency.”
Meanwhile, the Storm men lost to Melbourne Uni 101-96 and Pakenham 89-79 last weekend in the championship division.
They are 11th on the table with a 4-10 record and host Blackburn this Sunday, June 22 at 2pm.
