Strokes and spoken word for Arts Trail
PAINTING and works from this year’s Surf Coast Arts Trail will once again be brought to life via written creations from award-winning writers.
The second Words from the Surf Coast Arts Trail night on Thursday August 30 offers a chance to relive artworks with writers Christine Davey, Favel Parrett and Jock Serong each paired with a participating artist.
Each writer has created a word work inspired by their artist’s work, with Christine and Favel to present their written creations on the night, alongside the curated artworks that inspired them.
They will be joined by other local writers participating in the ‘open mic’ section which will be judged by Councillor Margot Smith and two of last year’s curated writers John Bartlett and Miranda Luby.
Hosted by Writers Victoria, the free event at the Bellbrae Hall will kick off at 6.15pm and is open to all with prizes awarded for the best open mic entries.
Writers intending to participate in the open mic section who haven’t yet registered should email [email protected] by August 24 to secure their spot.
For catering and seating purposes, prospective audience members need to book online at trybooking.com/XQTI.
Writers Victoria acknowledges the support of Surf Coast Shire Council’s Small Grants program and the Grace Marion Wilson Trust in making this initiative possible.
