Students show off Peace Posters

October 24, 2019 BY

LOCAL students’ art has been entered in the Torquay final of the Lions International Peace Poster competition.

The winner of the competition will be announced today along with two honourable mentions.

The posters have been on display the last few weeks at the Torquay Library.

Torquay Lions vice president Bill Ferguson said in addition to their beauty, the posters’ creation also offered a lot to the children who made them.

“The contest presents a unique, enjoyable and enriched educational experience for youth.

“Sharing ideas and messages of peace and acknowledging youth positive efforts and achievements, makes the poster project very satisfying.”

The contest has gained a lot of popularity since it was founded by Lions Club International in 1988.

Most years the contest now has over 600,000 children participate in it.

The international winners of the contest will be announced on or before February 1.
