MORE than 90 people teed off at the 2025 Surf Coast Suns Golf Day, helping to raise more than $11,000 to afford a new electronic scoreboard on the main senior oval.

Keen golfers turned out in droves for last Friday’s event to play in the four player Ambrose tournament.

The festivities started with a light breakfast at The Sands before 18 holes of golf.

Players did their best to score a hole in one on the 17th hole with a new Mitsubishi Outlander up for grabs courtesy of Kings Cars Mitsubishi Waurn Ponds.

A luncheon was held in the inside bar area following gameplay, with K rock Football commentator Tom King taking on hosting duties.

Guests heard from senior football coach Trent Rogers, football manager Brodie Marston and netball president Claire Sadler about the coming season.

Surf Coast Suns sponsorship manager Mark Tobias thanked the community for their amazing support of the event.

“Thanks to our par sponsors, Carpet House, Kings Cars, Maven Insurance, Torquay Hotel, GGC Industries and WKE Geelong, and our Master Sponsor JK Powell Constructions,” he said.

“We were fortunate to have great support and donations from many local business’ that helped us achieve a great day through raffles and auctions, with over $11,000 raised towards our new electronic scoreboard at Summertime Pools Oval.

“Despite no one hitting a hole in one on the 17th to Win the Kings Cars Mitsubishi Outlander, everyone had lots of fun trying!”

The Suns also launched their new membership category, ‘The Engine Room’, a coterie group that will support areas of the club that need some financial help.
