Surf Coast Community Calendar winners crowned

THE 12 winning artists to feature in the 2024 Surf Coast Shire Community Calendar have been crowned.

An experienced local judging panel selected the winners of the annual art extravaganza last Friday at the Community Arts Calendar Exhibition launch at Anglesea Art Space.

Fifty-five artists in total entered the calendar competition across four categories of Child, Youth, 2D and 3D.

The winners included:

Jessamy Bennett (Roadknight)

Jennifer O’Sullivan (Walking Towards the Sunshine)

Matthew Solly (Linley)

Kevan Way (The Moonah Trees)

Marea Breisch (Mud’Dadjug (Mt Abrupt, Dunkeld)

Liz Hughes (Callistemon Crimson)

Marietta Thompson (Incoming Storm at Juc)

Alexandra Suzuki (what??)

Douglas Banner (Canola Field, North Torquay)

Surf Coast Shire mayor Liz Pattison congratulated all winners on their works.

“I was impressed by the incredible range of works, which showcase just how diverse and bright our local creative sector is.

“It was particularly pleasing to see so many young artists featured.

 

“This competition, now in its 25th year, can be a launching pad, providing an opportunity for up-and-coming talent to make their exhibition debut before going on to achieve great things.”

A lucky 13th winner for the Surf Coast Community Calendar will be decided by a People’s Choice vote.

Art lovers are invited to cast their vote of their favourite piece, which will become the cover of the 2024 calendar.

Voting is open till November 1 at surfcoast.vic.gov.au/CalendarComp

The Community Calendar Exhibition is open daily (except Mondays) from October 14 to October 28 between 10am and 4pm at Anglesea Art Space.
