BETWEEN four kids, work and training, husband-and-wife team Stuart Jones and Kate Eddiehausen’s hands and calendars are full — but it has not stopped them entering the 2025 Surf Coast Century.
The Torquay duo will be taking on the ultra-marathon on September 14 as under the alias 100 Ways to Die in a Vest.
The pair will be running the final two legs of the 100km course and will be joined by friends and teammates Cameron Larchin and Niall Collins.
The 14th edition of the Surf Coast Century will feature more than 1,000 individuals and relay teams of two, three or four runners.
The event will see athletes snake along the Great Ocean Road all the while taking in the breathtaking views of the beach and bush.
Jones and Eddiehausen said they have somehow managed to fit in some training in the lead up to the event.

“When you’re stressed, exercise often is the first thing to go, but it’s probably the time you need it the most, so we make sure it’s part of every week,” Jones said.
Eddiehausen said she is a better parent when she’s feeling fit, strong and has had some “me-time”.
“It’s definitely a struggle to fit in a weekly long run…but who needs fresh laundry or a clean car anyway?
“For me running is definitely a chance to escape the chaos at home and practice some self-care, whether it be running in a social group and enjoying a coffee after.”
Sam Maffett, the general manager of the Century’s Torquay-based organiser Rapid Ascent, encouraged locals to sign up for this year’s event.
“The course is in your backyard.
“It’s the ideal place to run an ultra-trail marathon, whether that’s on your own, or in a team.”
Entries for the 2025 Surf Coast Century will remain open online until Friday, September 12.
