A SURF Coast newsagency has sold the division two lottery ticket to 10 lucky locals.

Anglesea News & Lotto sold the winning ticket worth $11,291.90 during Saturday’s April 17 draw.

Owner Corrinne Nigro said the win came from a store syndicate they put on each week.

“Basically, you buy a big ticket, the winning ticket cost $231, but not many people are going to spend that, so we break it into shares, and they get more chances at winning a prize,” she said.

“It awesome to see locals win it makes it even sweeter for us.

“Ten different people shared in the prize of $1,129.19 and for a $23 investment it’s not a bad return.”

While the win is an exciting boost for Surf Coast locals, Ms Nigro said store is no stranger to success. “Our last big win was probably about six months ago it was another second division,” she said.

Ms Nigro said the last division one ticket was purchased from her store four-and-a-half years ago, but they now excitedly await the chance to change the luck of more locals with upcoming competitions.

While their customers missed out on the $5 million jackpot, Ms Nigro said they were still very happy with their prize.

“One of the ladies had won second division before through us and a couple had no idea they had even won until they got to the counter which was exciting,” she said.

“When our final customer collected her money, we asked what she was going to spend it on and she said ‘a pram for her first grandchild and a new toilet’.”
