Surf Coast students celebrate VCE successes
YEAR 12 students are celebrating across the Surf Coast after officially finishing their VCE studies and obtaining the results that will set them on their path into the future.
On Monday this week, VCE students received their ATAR scores after six years of hard work and dedication.
Surf Coast Secondary College announced their 2022 school dux was Nell Osborne-Grigg, who achieved an ATAR score of 97.10.
The 18-year-old said she was thrilled with her results, particularly in securing a 49 in Studio Arts, a score that landed her in the top 2 per cent of students in the state.
“It all feels a bit surreal and very cool,” Osborne-Grigg said.
“In Studio Arts which was my best subject, we studied a major theme and I looked at the concept of Utopia and the notion of ideal cities, ideal landscapes and ideal places.
“Outside of school ,I really love music, I spend a lot of time at gigs which is a great way to escape the life of studying.
“It’s kind of weird to think I got the best score of everyone but it’s very cool.”
Osborne-Grigg said her next goal was to gain entry into a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Melbourne, with the hope of doing a double degree in Anthropology and Art History.
She then hopes to complete a Masters in Art Curatorship.
Lorne P-12 College announced Juna Hack, who completed predominantly maths and science subjects, as the school’s dux, achieving an ATAR score of 83.1.
Other local students to excel in their Year 12 studies included Belmont High School student Arthur Foulkes who was crowned dux with a score of 97.50; and Geelong College pair Remy Locke and Bailey Gait who each achieved a score of 99.50.
