Surf Coast surf boats to represent Victoria

Torquay SLSC’s surf boats had a good day in the waves at Anglesea on Sunday.

THE Victorian Surf Rowers League (VSRL) held the third and final round of its state team selection trials at Anglesea on Sunday, with several Surf Coast crews winning and/or gaining selection for next month’s interstate championships.

Torquay SLSC crews won three of their categories (Torquay Buoyos in U/19 Men, Torquay Pirates in U/23 Men and Torquay Lightning in Open Women) while Lorne SLSC won two (Lorne UniLornes in Reserve Women and Lorne Dry in Reserve Men).

Torquay teams ultimately ended with a total of three gold, three silver and two bronze medals.

Following the competition, the state team representatives were named. These included Torquay Buoyos in U/19 Men, Torquay Pirates in U/23 Men, Lorne Dry in Reserve Men, Lorne UniLornes in Reserve Women and Lorne Edge in Open Women.

These crews will represent Victoria at the ASRL Open, which will be held at Elouera, New South Wales on February 15.
