Surf Coast traders get back in the game

February 21, 2018 BY

TCT’s first event of the year drew about 60 people to Growlers.

SURF Coast traders got back in the game yesterday (Wednesday) morning at Torquay Commerce and Tourism’s (TCT) first event of the year.

The free “Back in the Game” breakfast at Growlers drew about 60 owners and staff from businesses in Torquay and beyond, who shared stories and talked about the end of the peak summer period.

“We’re definitely back in the game, aren’t we, after a fantastic trading summer,” TCT president Cathy Stacey told the crowd.

“I bet most of you here have done a little bit of travel… and I bet that most of you, like myself, when you come back to Torquay, recognise and say thanks because we live in the most amazing part of the world. What makes it even more fantastic is a thriving business community and a thriving economy, and for us to thrive, we need to work together.”

She said TCT believed in three things – “when we work together, whatever we do has to be good for us, it has to be good for you, and it has to be good for the greater good. Unless those things are there, it’s just not going to happen.”

TCT will hold three kinds of events this year, including the Sunrise Series.

“We’re really excited (for this) because we want you to walk away feeling full of education and inspired,” Ms Stacey said.

TCT will again run its After Surf casual after work events, and brought Torquay business group Bizz3228 under its umbrella over the summer and will continue to host the monthly showcase of leaders in the business community.

Ms Stacey thanked Times News Group advertising director Warick Brown for coming up with the “Back in the Game” concept, as well as Growlers owner Peter Hansen for sponsoring the event.
