LONG-distance walkers should get a move on if they want to be part of this year’s Surf Coast Trek, with entries for the popular event now open.

To be held on May 1, the annual fundraising walk for Give Where You Live and Kids Plus Foundation takes place along the Surf Coast Walk, and this year will offer two distance options for the first time.

The Surf Coast Trek is a unique opportunity to participate in a challenging, rewarding and achievable community event that takes place in the beautiful, diverse landscapes of the Surf Coast.

The track takes walkers through ironbark forests, across stunning exposed cliff tops, among exquisite wildflowers, and across long sandy beaches, all with sweeping ocean views.

This year’s event sees the introduction of two distances: Trek 1, the original 40km trek from Aireys Inlet to Torquay; and Trek 2, a new 26km trek from Anglesea to Torquay.

People can trek as an individual, duo or team of four, but be quick – numbers for the 2021 Treks are limited and will fill fast.

Entrants are strongly encouraged to reach the minimum fundraising target of $250 for an individual, $500 for a team of two or $1,000 for a team of four.

Kids Plus Foundation is a community organisation that informs, influences and delivers specialist, multi-discipline therapy programs for babies, children and young people with neuro-developmental conditions, including cerebral palsy, brain injury and stroke.

Give Where You Live Foundation raises funds and allocates them to the less fortunate in the community on an annual basis via its major grants programs within the Geelong and district area, including the Surf Coast.
