Surf Coast Trek to celebrate 10 years
THE Surf Coast Trek will be returning for its 10th edition in 2025 and all eyes are on making it the most successful yet.
The annual fundraising favourite will be held on April 5 and raise vital funds to support local for purpose organisations, Kids+ and Give Where You Live Foundation (GWYLF).
Walkers can either take part in a 40km walk from Aireys Inlet to Torquay or a shorter 26km course from Anglesea to Torquay.
Over its 10-year history, the trek has raised more than $2.1 million to funds projects such as the Kids+ Parent Infant Program, which supports premature babies through the first two years of life.
It has also helped financially support the Give Where You Live Housing Support and Food Relief local partnerships.
Kids+ chief executive officer Shaun Cannon said he was looking forward to making the 10th trek the best yet.
“Over the 10 years the characteristics of the event have remained the same. Lots of goodwill, widespread community engagement, people doing something for themselves, and in the process, do something for someone else on account of their fundraising.
“On behalf of Kids+, and the children and young people we work with, huge thanks for everyone’s support.”
GWYLF chief executive officer Bill Mithen said the foundation was proud to have partnered with Kids+ for a decade to bring the Surf Coast Trek to the community.
“This unique event combines fitness, fun, and fundraising, and has become a highlight on the Foundation’s annual events calendar.”
