Surf Coast Wholefoods enters new era
BELOVED Torquay establishment, Surf Coast Wholefoods, has changed ownership with a well-known local family taking over the reins.
Founded in 2012 by Annabel and Tim Reiter, the boutique supermarket has long been a haven for organic and health food lovers.
For new owners, Sophia Lamb and Toby Jeavons, the business is strongly aligned with their own focus on health and holistic living.
“It’s something we live by ourselves,” Ms Lamb said.
“We just believe in the importance of healthy living and how important it is for wellbeing.”
The Jan Juc local and mother of three has a background as a yoga teacher and has been running BeKind Studio, a home yoga studio specialising in pregnancy and postnatal courses, since 2019.
“It’s such an amazing place that the previous owners have already created,” she said.
“We want to keep the heart of it. It’s such an amazing business and amazing community hub already so we’ll keep a lot of it the same and then, over time, let it evolve.”
And that evolution will be focused on creating connection and responding to the interests of the community.
“We’d love to bring in a consultancy room for the naturopath that works there,” Ms Lamb said.
“So, everyone that comes in they can have consults as well as get any supplements and herbs and natural medicine they need.
“We’d love to, over time, bring in little workshops and things that bring even more connection.”
Ms Lamb said the experience so far had been “amazing”.
“There’s so much to learn when you start a new adventure, but it just feels really right and really aligned and there’s lots of good energy carrying us there.”
“The previous owners have been just amazing in teaching us everything and showing us the ropes.
“We feel really supported and excited to take [Surf Coast Wholefoods] onto its next journey.”
Surf Coast Wholefoods is located at 41 Bristol Road, Torquay.
