Teacher says “I do” in front of class

WHEN Moriac Primary School teacher Mikhala Fisher said “I do” this April there was a special addition to her big day, all 20 of them as students lined the aisle.

“I’ve been teaching at Moriac for four years now and invited my students as I had taught them in prep and grade two and prep and grade one (now grade two),” she said.

“The students were a mixture of our prep, grades one, two and three. I wrote them all a letter at the end of last year with the details of the ceremony and the invitation if they wished to attend.

“We were married at Ravens Creek Farm which is directly opposite our school and frequented by our students, just up the road from their houses and an iconic part of the Moriac township.”

Mrs Fisher said there were 20 students that came along and lined the aisle as she walked up, waving a gift she’d given them for coming along.

“They were holding out the ring-pop lollies I’d bought them as a little thank you for sharing my big day with me,” she said.

“Having taught them for a couple of years, they all knew who Jesse was (my husband and a fellow teacher) and were all so excited when we got engaged and when I told them we were getting married at Ravens Creek.

“Seeing the students as I turned the corner and began walking up the aisle was so special and was the only time I was a little teary on the day. It was honestly such a beautiful feeling to share such a special moment with my little cherubs.”
