TFA ready to ramp-up services

October 8, 2020 BY

Torquay Food Aid president Michael Buckley said the group can feed more than the 40-50 people they already support each week.

TORQUAY Food Aid (TFA) hopes to expand its services and help more people in need, thanks in part to copious donations from the community.

TFA is presently feeding about 40-50 people each week, and president Michael Buckley said the group could feed more.

“We could easily ramp things up to service nearly double that,” Mr Buckley said.

“We believe that with JobKeeper and JobSeeker payments going down there will be more people in need of food relief.

“We’ve certainly got a great supply of food that we get from various organisations and that we purchase ourselves.”

TFA has served the Torquay, Jan Juc and Bellbrae regions for more than 26 years.

The group also recently became a registered charity, and donations are tax-deductible.

Mr Buckley encouraged people to reach out if they needed help.

“We’re trying to get the message out to the general public and people who may not be aware of us, as well as people who might be embarrassed to ask for food.”

People wanting support can email [email protected] or phone 0409 614 630.

Those wishing to donate can drop food supplies in the collection box at Ryan’s IGA Torquay.
