The hoedown turning Anglesea Hall into a dance floor
TWO Anglesea Kindergarten parents are behind a community hoedown next weekend, bringing a beginner-friendly line dancing night to the memorial hall.
The event will feature guided sessions aimed at all experience levels, with organisers encouraging locals to come along with friends or give it a go solo.
The night will be led by Country Struts – a Melbourne-based group that has performed at Meredith Music Festival and Rising – bringing a social style of dancing not often seen on the Surf Coast.
Organiser Romy Renzow said the idea grew from a shared experience with co-organiser Cassie Harrison.
“Cassie Harrison and I met at a boot scooting event in Point Lonsdale three years ago, and it was just a really cute night,” Renzow said.
“Now both our children are at Anglesea kinder, we thought it was a great opportunity to have a parents evening out and to raise funds for the region.
“We are friends with the Country Struts team and they are superstars. We can’t wait.”
All funds raised will go towards programs and resources for Angelsea Kindergarten.
Renzow said the night was designed to be relaxed and accessible, particularly for those who might not usually step onto a dance floor.
“It won’t be taken seriously, it’ll just be a modern take with really fun dance moves,” she said.
“[Similar events] attract all the generations, which is fantastic, and we hope the Anglesea event will be no different.”
