The Pulse announces dates for election candidate forums
GEELONG-based community radio station 94.7 The Pulse is again putting contenders in the coming state election behind the microphone, announcing the dates and times of its election candidate forums.
The forums will be broadcast live to air in front of a studio audience in the foyer of its Geelong station, where the audience will have the opportunity to ask questions directly to their electorate candidates.
Every candidate running for each seat will be invited so that voters can listen to a range of perspectives and make an informed choice on Election Day.
Six forums will be run over three days – one each for the electorates of Bellarine, Lara, Geelong, Polwarth and South Barwon, and a special Upper House forum for the Western Victoria Region.
The Pulse says the forums aim to promote grassroots democracy and access for members of the Geelong region community to their representatives, providing a stage to have their pressing questions and concerns directly answered.
Forum details are as follows:
- November 5: Polwarth 9-10.30am, South Barwon 11am -12.30pm
- November 6: Lara 9-10.30am, Bellarine 11am-12.30pm
- November 7: Geelong 9-10.30am, Upper House 11am to 12.30pm.
The forum events are free to attend, and community members and media can register their seats at eventbrite.com.au under ‘94.7 The Pulse – Electorate Candidates Forum’.
For those who can’t attend in person, questions can be submitted online at 947thepulse.com/ask.
Postal vote applications for the November 24 election will be available on October 31, and the electoral roll will close at 8pm on November 6.
