The Pulse to livestream a week of election forums
COMMUNITY radio station 94.7 The Pulse will hold a series of council election forums with candidates from across the Geelong region via Zoom in the first week of October, and will broadcast the Q&A-style event live to air and livestream it online.
From October 5, candidates from all the wards in the region’s municipalities will answer questions pre-submitted by the public in a “digital democracy” forum designed to work around the existing COVID-19 restrictions.
The nine forums will be run over five days.
94.7 The Pulse has a long history of providing the Geelong community an opportunity to put forward their questions to electorate candidates at a federal, state, and council level and actively engage in the democratic process to cast an informed vote.
Pulse spokesperson Sam Balazs said a pandemic wasn’t going to stop them from holding the forums.
“These forums are such an important part of the democratic process at a grassroots level. People have a right to ask questions and keep candidates accountable – that’s what these forums are about, and why they must happen.”
